Sada Cumber
Chairman & CEO

Sada brings extensive experience and leadership in imaging and technology-based industries.

He is a successful and well-known Austin entrepreneur who has founded six companies in the past 25 years, three of them specializing in the photo imaging space. Prior to founding SozoTek, Sada served as Chairman & CEO of Psionic Technologies, Inc., an Internet Security software company acquired by Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) in 2002. In 1995, he co-founded Applied Science Fiction, a company specializing in a digital dry film process and digital photo enhancement and restoration whose technologies were recently acquired by Kodak (NYSE: EK).

Sada previously owned Triumph Flexo Industries, which was acquired by American Greetings (NYSE: AM) in 1994. He also owned and operated a chain of Photo Magic, photofinishing and camera specialty stores. Sada currently serves on the Governor’s Business Council. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Photo Marketing Association International (PMAI) and Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA), and on numerous other boards, civic/community organizations, advisory councils and foundations.

Dr. Albert Edgar
Chief Scientist

Albert is an award-winning expert in digital image processing who is named on more than 80 patents relating to analog and digital imaging and printing technology, many as sole inventor. Al leads a team of imaging scientists at SozoTek who have developed technologies resulting in over 200 patents in the past ten years. Al co-founded and served as Chief Scientist with Applied Science Fiction (recently acquired by Kodak), a technology development company specializing in digital dry film processing and digital photo enhancement and restoration. In this capacity, he developed and patented the company’s numerous technologies relating to film scanning, surface defect correction; color reconstruction and digital film processing.

Prior to this, Al served as a Senior Scientist/Engineer with IBM. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University.

Al recently received the 2003 Technical Achievement Award from the PhotoImaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association, Inc. (PMDA). In his spare time, he is also a noted fine art and wedding photographer.

Gail Redmond
Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Gail’s 18-year career in sales, marketing, business development and product management includes industry-leaders and start-ups, Sprint Corporation, Kansas City Power & Light Co., IBM and Telespree Communications.

At Telespree Communications, a San Francisco-based start up specializing in wireless activation and self-service software, Gail led sales and marketing efforts from product to commercial launch. Prior to this, Gail was a Vice President/General Manager at Sprint, heading their multi-million dollar OEM division as well as overseeing U.S. supply chain sales to the RBOCs. As a director with Sprint North Supply she led marketing and product management for a billion dollar Sprint business unit.

Before entering telecom, Gail was president of an economic development organization where, in a 24-month period, she successfully negotiated over $200 million in international and Fortune 100 corporate relocations.

Gail earned her MBA from the University of Kansas and her undergraduate degree, Cum Laude, from Missouri Southern University.

Gordon Ford
Vice President, Product Strategy & Development

Gordon has more than 25 years’ experience in high-tech product development and planning; business development; technical sales and marketing; and customer support, specializing in digital imaging and telecommunications systems. He has filed more than 20 inventions with the U.S. Patent Office.

As the former Executive Director of Digital ICE with Applied Science Fiction, Gordon developed and marketed digital photo enhancement and restoration technology to US OEMs as well as international partners in Europe, Australia, Japan and Taiwan.

Prior to this, Gordon served as VP of Engineering and Product Development with Pelco, a manufacturer of CCTV systems, and as Senior Engineering Manager with ROLM/Siemens’ telecommunications and videoconferencing division. His earlier career included a wide variety of technical management positions at Data General, Motorola, and Texas Instruments.

Gordon served on the Board of Directors of the Security Industries Association, (SIA) as the chairman of the Global Marketing Committee.

Ralph Germer
Vice President, Operations

Ralph has more than 20 years’ experience in technology management of digital imaging technologies and photo products with manufacturers and service providers in the US and Japan. He’s managed annual revenues over $100 million.

As the former Director of Sales, US and Japan, with Applied Science Fiction, Ralph sold digital imaging optimization technology to major OEMs in Japan and the US. He also launched and managed Adobe Photoshop plug-in software business.

Prior to this, Ralph spent 17 years with Konica Photo Imaging, where he served in a variety of management positions, most recently as Vice President of Digital Imaging Development. In this capacity, he managed the company’s consumer digital camera and professional scanning systems businesses. Previous positions with Konica, include General Sales Manager and other management positions.
